Transport Design

As road occupancy increases, the ability to manage road space in
the most effective and safe manner becomes ever more important.
Increased, or optimised capacity can be provided by refining road
geometry, managing traffic speed and driver behaviour, safety
engineering, junction improvements and others.
Our experienced Traffic Control team offers a specialist custom
capability in advising, assessing, designing and supervising the
implementation of traffic management and control schemes. Modes
covered include buses and trams with consideration given to
junction priority, dedicated road space, and UTMC systems such as
SCOOT and SCATS.
The Safety Specialist team is highly experienced in undertaking
collision investigations to define problems and identify
appropriate highway improvements. Their qualified audit teams also
undertake Road Safety Audits to stages 1 to 4.
The Traffic Management team provides specialist input to schemes
on traffic regulation orders, junction capacity assessments and
traffic management schemes such as safe routes to schools and area
traffic calming schemes.
A specialist Transport Assessment team develops access
strategies and assists developers in securing planning consents.
The team works with architects and Town planners as part of a
multidisciplinary team to deliver client requirements. Travel plans
and public transport studies for local authorities are also
undertaken.
