Nuclear
The nuclear industry is now subject to a
period of massive change with many of the older research
facilities, fuel cycle facilities, defence and power reactors
reaching end of life and passing through to decommissioning. The UK
is one of the pioneers in the management and implementation of
nuclear remediation programmes with a major programme of work
extending well into the next century to decommission old
liabilities.
The current energy gap and the stated
objectives for all major industrialised and developing countries to
maintain an energy balance and meet carbon targets, means that new
build of the next generation of nuclear power stations represents a
significant trend in addition to supporting the continued operation
of nuclear plants for power generation, research and development,
manufacture and radiochemical medical facilities.
The services provided by Scott Wilson allow
the owners and operators of nuclear facilities civil and defence)
and the implementation contractors to manage the successful
development of new facilities, optimize the effective operation of
existing facilities and successfully decommission redundant
facilities within a regulatory framework in which safety is the
primary driver.
Scott Wilson provides a highly experienced,
highly skilled consultancy group which is able to manage and
deliver major engineering design projects and risk management
consultancy. This includes civil and structural engineering,
process engineering, architecture and safety and risk management
consultancy. Many of our engineers and consultants have over 20
years experience in the industry and have practical experience of
management and implementation on nuclear sites, together with
knowledge and technology transfer including training. We work

management issues facing them and in delivering the added value to
help them to achieve their aims and objectives.
