Foundations and Retaining Walls
Project Introduction
Scott Wilson has long been at the forefront of
the application of specialist expertise to the design of
foundations and retaining walls for a wide range of projects,
including: buildings, roads, railways and bridges, airports,
maritime structures and landslip stabilisation.
Project Background
From major bridge foundations to deep
basements, rafts and shallow footings, Scott Wilson offers advice
and design relating to all foundation types. Where ground
conditions are poor, our geotechnical engineers have extensive
experience of ground improvement techniques to permit the
construction of economical and environmentally sustainable shallow
foundations.
Project Scope
Scott Wilson’s geotechnical engineers are
adept at designing all types of retaining structures, including
reinforced fill, bored pile and sheet pile wall, crib walls, gabion
walls, RC cantilever walls and diaphragms. Repairing and
maintaining old brick and masonry retaining walls for railway and
highways clients also forms a key specialist service.
Value Adding Project
Achievements
To ensure an efficient and reliable service, a
variety of up-to-date design methods are used. These range from
more routine analysis to sophisticated computer aided design using
2D and 3D finite element models. In all cases we seek to understand
the needs of the client and the project, and tailor our approach
accordingly.
