One of the most common causes of delays and overruns on housing
developments is encountering unexpected ground conditions which
necessitate changes to foundation designs or remediation of
contaminated land. Such ground risks include soft ground, high
water tables, and sloping ground; underground mining and other
cavities, contamination and radon.
Once a site is purchased we undertake preliminary and detailed
ground investigations and provide foundation advice and designs,
retaining wall designs and slope stability assessments. If the site
appears to have been contaminated by past usage, we carry out
appropriate contamination surveys and devise cost effective ground
or groundwater remediation strategies including developing method
statements negotiating with local authorities and the environment
agency where necessary. Where required, we will supervise
contamination remediation works on site and undertake validation
testing to ensure that the works have been carried out
adequately.
