Sustainable Development
Sustainable development is vital to every aspect of Scott
Wilson's services. It has come to be demanded by international
development agencies, national and local governments, banks and
private companies. Scott Wilson first committed to providing
services for sustainable development over a decade ago.
Training seminars were held across the company to develop a
common understanding of sustainability. New teams were formed to
cover new areas including sustainability appraisal, social
development, sustainable construction and public participation. Now
a network of sustainable development experts and enthusiasts has
been formed across the Group to share experiences, develop best
practice and encourage innovation.
There is now global recognition that we need to improve future
development so as to maximise their economic, environmental and
social benefits, to minimise climate change and ameliorate its
impacts and to promote social cohesion. Sustainable development is
no longer an optional extra but a key focus of public and private
sector policies. It covers areas as diverse as rainwater harvesting
and public health, alternative energy and public participation.
Scott Wilson combines the technical engineering design skills
with the softer environmental and social skills to provide
sustainable solutiosn that work. We also provide a wide range of
indiviudal sustainability skills which we combine to provide
holistic solutions. We seek in our internal practices to be
sustainable and share this experience with our clients.
