Malé International Airport

Project Introduction
Client:Maldives Airports Company
Role:Master Plan
Feasibility Study Status:Ongoing
Project Background
Malé airport is the international gateway to the beautiful
islands that make up the Maldives. The airport is heavily utilised
and currently strained during peak periods due to the success of
tourism. It attracts not only schedule, but also charter traffic
from many countries around the globe.
The airport company understood the need for a coherent, planned
master plan to ensure that future growth meet the needs of the
economic drivers and the financial and environmental
constraints.
Project Scope
The scope require the preparation of a 25-year master including
traffic forecasts, optioneering, land-use planning, preparation of
a phased and comprehensive development plan as well as financial
viability analysis and capital expenditure planning.
A feasibility study for the planning and financing of the first
phase of development identified in the master plan was also carried
out.
Value Adding Project Achievements
Scott Wilson delivered a highly comprehensive master plan that
covered all needs of the client as well as stakeholders. A series
of stakeholder meetings proved successful, ensuring all views were
heard to deliver a document that had full ownership. The
feasibility study greatly assisted in streamlining the airport’s
drive for development and financing.
