Project Introduction
Client: Birmingham International Airport Limited
Scope of Work: Range of projects over a 15 year period covering the
phased expansion of all airside infrastructure, including apron
expansion and runway extension.
Services Provided: Airport Planning and Development Strategy,
Feasibility Studies, Detailed Design, Contract Administration,
Supervision of Construction.
Project Background
Birmingham airport has seen growth in passenger and aircraft
movements, progressive expansion of capacity and capability has
been required.
Project Scope
Scott Wilson has carried out the design on behalf of a design
and build contractor, or has acted for the airport as detailed
designer or Agent across a range of projects, planning and
progressively providing airside capacity increases.
Projects have included feasibility studies as well as designs
and supervision of apron, drainage and runway extensions.
Projects have also covered environmental services as well as
planning application preparations.
Scott Wilson also assisted the airport to respond to the UK
Government’s Air Transport White Paper and developed the
“Birmingham Alternatively”, subsequently preparing the 2nd runway
study underpinning the airport’s masterplan.
