High Royd Wastewater Treatment Works

Project Introduction
Scott Wilson in association with Kellogg Brown
and Root was employed by Yorkshire Water to provide consulting
services for the upgrade of High Royd Waste Water Treatment
Works.
Project Background
High Royd Wastewater Treatment Works is a
gravity fed works with a full flow to treatment of
10000m³/day. Works were required to upgrade the plant to meet
2015 Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive and RQO water quality
consents.
Project Scope
Upgrade works included a new inlet works
complete with duty/standby 6mm 2D screens, screenings handling,
grit removal, flow control and measurement. New radial primary
settlement tanks complete with half bridge scrapers and scum
removal, refurbishment of the existing biological filters with new
motorized distributors and new radial humus settlement tanks
complete with half bridge scrapers. New pumping stations and
associated ancillary plant, including a washwater/final effluent
distribution network were provided. The site was notable for
Yorkshire in that it involved the use of an Intelligent MCC
combining PLC, profibus and simicode systems.
Value Adding Project
Achievements
Scott Wilson’s services included feasibility
study and outline design, production of tender documentation
followed by tender evaluation, preparation of contract data and
form of contract. Project administration involved NEC project
management and planning supervisor roles, design review followed by
construction and commissioning supervision.
