Review of Mongolian Exploration Properties
Introduction of the Project
Scott Wilson was retained by a confidential
client to carry out a preliminary field review of a
tungsten-molybdenum property and two alluvial gold properties in
Mongolia
Project Background
On the tungsten-molybdenum property, a large
historical mineral resource has been estimated by Russian
geologists based on diamond drill holes, numerous surface trenches,
and underground workings on four levels.
The alluvial gold property consists of two mining licences and two
exploration licences. Gold and PGM concentrations were found in
placer deposits in the late 1990s and pan sampling led to the
delineation of five mineralized areas.
Project Scope
Scott Wilson visited the sites and reviewed
the data collection, pitting, sampling, gold recovery by washing
and panning, and preparation of maps and sections on the alluvial
gold properties. We provided opinion on the quality and
reliability of the previous work on the properties.
Value Adding Project
Achievements
Based on Scott Wilson’s site visits, and
experience with Russian exploration practices, it was determined
that both the tungsten-molybdenum property and the alluvial gold
properties have good potential for economic development. A program
of confirmatory sampling, accessing and surveying the openings and
carrying out some confirmatory drilling was recommended to confirm
and upgrade the Inferred Mineral Resources to Indicated and
Measured Resources. These resources could then be disclosed
using Western standard definitions. On the potential placer
properties, the program proposed by Scott Wilson focused on the
search for sufficient quantity of water for future washing and
concentration operations and bulk sampling, so the appropriate
concentration equipment could be purchased.
