EMI Records
Project Introduction
This £18m project was a direct appointment by EMI Records to
refurbish their offices in West London.
Project Background
EMI required a dynamic, interactive space which combined a
variety of uses, from general office areas, to acoustically treated
listening suites, to staff gym and leisure facilities.
Project Scope
The facade was extended to create a triple rance hall and an
internal courtyard was glazed over, creating a new atrium with
glass wall climber lifts. Particular care was taken to upgrade the
building fabric to meet the new, Part L of the building regulations
which require stringent environmental standards.
Both full fresh-air and four-pipe fan coil systems are used
within the building, where facilities include EMI’s European IT
communications centre and hub with emergency power UPS and back-up,
offices, and acoustically treated listening suites.
There are also full catering and kitchen facilities for all
staff and visitors, including executive dining areas, and gym and
leisure facilities for EMI staff.
