Chandos House,
London
Project Introduction
- Client: Howard de Walden Estate
- Value: £6m
- Completion: 2004
Project background
Chandos House, which is Listed Grade l, is Robert Adam's first
London house and now one of only three extant Adam houses in
London. The house is used for institutional purposes, providing
conference and meeting rooms, library, dining facilities, and a
small amount of overnight accommodation for members of the
institution.
Our work included assessment of the existing
structural fabric and the floor load capacities. We provided
statements regarding work to the existing fabric, and method and
philosophy statements for the integration of services within the
existing structural fabric for listed building consent and planning
submissions. We also considered working methods and temporary work
requirements for the execution of the project.
