Southampton City College
Project Introduction
Contract Value is £7 m. Completed in 2006. The Client was
Southampton City College.
Project Background
Following a feasibility study that identified the attributes of
the existing site and how these could be adapted to allow the
College to modernise and develop their curriculum for the 21st
Century. By releasing land surplus to the College's
requirements, funding was generated to permit phased development
within the existing campus. Teaching and staff facilities, studios,
workshops and specialist areas were all required to integrate into
the scheme while allowing the College to continue to teach and
perform.
Project Scope
FM Modern Design (now Scott Wilson) provided Architecture, Civil
and Structural Engineering and Landscape Architecture services.
Value Adding Project Achievements
By adopting team partnering with the main contractor, Geoffery
Osborne Ltd, we were able to develop the different phases of work
with continuity and efficacy, even though pupils and staff were
required to decant around the College campus.
